To compare the efficacy of 3 days treatment with Nitazoxanide vs 5 days treatment with Metronidazole in treating children with diarrhea caused by Giardia-lamblia.

Objective: To compare the efficacy of 3 days treatment with Nitazoxanide vs 5 Metronidazole in treating children diarrhea caused by Giardia-lamblia. Study Design: Randomized Controlled Trial Study. Setting: Department Pediatric, Women & Children Hospital MTI Bannu. Period: December 15, 2019 to May 2020. Material Methods: All 230 meeting inclusion criteria were enrolled study through OPD or emergency. Written informed consent was taken and questionnaire filled from parents. Complete history physical examination done for all included upon arrival. The patients divided into two groups. randomly assigned either group lottery method. Group-A experimental had received Nitazoxanide. Group-B control Metronidazole. 15 mg/kg/day twice daily days; 30 thrice as per group. On follow-up assessed clinical improvement that is resolution Stool sample collected presence Giardia cysts trophozoites. Results: Two groups analyzed after completion therapy 104 while 11 didn’t resolution. Whereas 107 8 Conclusion: (90%) (92%) almost equally effective
